Devotions For Ages Five and Under

Many of you asked me in the comments of the “How We Use ‘Our 24 Family Ways’ Devotional” post if it would be good for younger children. While it can certainly be adapted, if you only have young children and aren’t looking for extra work right now, I have listed some highly recommended devotionals here that we use and love for my five and under children.

The One Year Devotions for Preschoolers 2

This books offers a short devotional with a short verse. At the end it offers a short rhyme to help children remember the lesson. Perfect for short attention spans!

Big Thoughts for Little People

This is a wonderful way to help teach the alphabet and phonics. It offers an engaging devotional coupled with an illustration with questions to help the children find and see what they are learning in the lesson. At the end there are some questions and a verse. My children have worn out this book and still love to read it!

Jesus Calling

Easy to understand and written from the point of Jesus speaking, this devotion invites young children into a deeper understanding of who He is {and who He isn’t}. Each devotion is supported by Scripture and encourages you into further study.

Five-Minute Devotions for Children

Another of my children’s favorite is the devotional which starts with a lesson on nature and how God created certain animals, bugs, or fish. It then ties the character of these species into a lesson God wants us to learn. There is a verse included and questions to help further participation into the facts and the character training.

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

Thank you for all those resources!!!! We use the bible for our devotion with the little one, because that is what we have. But I think investing in a age appropriate book to help us could be a great thing. What would be you fav if you could choose one!

You know what I recommend for a one year old that’s even more suited for them? “The Baby Bible Storybook” by Robin Currie. It keeps them engaged with rhymes and it’s a board book they can handle themselves. :)

Loved reading through this list. Thanks for sharing. My amazon wish list is growing! :) I have two boys (2 1/2 years and 4 1/2 months). It’s never too early to teach them God’s Word. I’m excited about learning more from your website.
