After high school, all my writing pretty much fizzled out. I wrote a few prayer journals over the years, but that was the extent of it.
Then I came across a post at Heart of the Matter Online featuring Ann Voskamp. It was the first time I’d ever come across her name. At that time, she had begun a journaling series through her weekly meme, Walk With Him Wednesday. It was journaling like I’d never seen it before. It was visual and beautiful. Beyond inspiration. Breathtaking.
Thus began my journey…
I try not to worry about organization as much as getting my thoughts down on paper. As of now, I have a beautiful collection of meanderings. A book of reflections I can look back on to see where my feet have been–where my heart and focus has been.
Thought’s from Ann (of A Holy Experience) on journaling:
Just a page, a place to place a day, so it won’t get lost in the dark. It is what journaling is: catching the light. Catching God filtering through your moments….so your soul can grow.
She goes on to say:
It’s a way of shining a beam into the dark and figuring out what’s going on in there, in the shadow’s of a soul, what’s happening on the day’s I’m overcast. I write because our words, like His, can be a lamp unto our paths.”
Might I encourage you to pen your thoughts as well?
